An "Ex Libris" names a decorated sticker which is pasted into a book in order to indicate the book's owner.
The "Ex Libris" was already in use, since 1480, in The Netherlands, Germany, France, Italy, and since 1679 also in the United States.
In the 19th century important libraries used to stamp an "Ex Libris" on all their books.
